Notice of Sirens Not Activated

On Tuesday March 10th, 2026 at 7:22 PM a rotating cloud that triggered a tornado warning passed just north of Missouri City. As reported by many residents and council members our warning sirens did not activate during the tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service. After calling the Clay County Sheriffs Department and Fishing River Fire Department it was reported that multiple sirens in Clay County did not activate for the tornado warning. The problem that caused the lack of communication to the sirens is being investigated. The central dispatch office plans to conduct a test of the system on Wednesday March 18th at 11:00 AM. Thank you to everyone who reported this incident.

Notice of Public Hearing

The City of Missouri City, Missouri will hold a public hearing on
Monday, January 12th, 2025, at 5:30 PM at the MCCA Building, 309 Main St. Missouri City,
Missouri 64072. An amendment to Flood Plain Management Ordinance 142 Pursuant to 44CFR § 60.3(d) will be read two times and voted on by the Missouri City, Missouri Council. The purpose of the ordinance is to update the FEMA requirements of existing ordinance for Floodplain Management 142 to include additional variance abilities for new construction and substantial improvement certification. Copies of the Amendment and ordinance 142 will be placed at the Missouri City Post office and requests for copies can be made by writing to The City of Missouri City, Missouri PO Box 264, Missouri City, MO 64072. All interested persons shall be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing.

Municipal Election Notice

2026 Municipal Election for Missouri City, Missouri April 7, 2026, Municipal Election for city council Ward 2 (2 year term) and Ward 4 (2 year term). The City of Missouri City, Missouri will hold its’ regular Municipal Election on Tuesday April 7, 2026, to select 2 council members. The first day to file for the April 7, 2026 election is December 10, 2025. Filing will begin on that date at 8:00 AM and will end on December 30, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
