Minutes of January 9, 2023, City Council Meeting
The Missouri City, Missouri, City Council held their monthly open meeting at the MCCA Building on Monday, January 9th, 2023, at 7:00 pm. Attending: Mayor Barry Moore, Clerk Monte Railey, Council members Mickey Stewart (Ward One), Joe Selle (Ward Two) and Johanna Davis (Ward Four). Incoming Ward Three at-Large Council member Jan Kohl, plus Danny and Loni Bush also attended.
Mayor Moore called the meeting to order. Meeting minutes from December 12th, 2022, were read and approved.

Councilwoman Davis made a motion to pay the bills that was seconded by Councilman Stewart. The motion carried 3-0.
Old Business
Project to bore new water main under MO Hwy 210: The new line is in service but Mayor Moore advised the Council of the need to install a blow off/flush assembly valve on north Walnut Street to facilitate clearing debris as needed. Decker Construction made a bid of $1,778.00 to install the valve. After discussion, Councilwoman Davis made a motion to accept the bid as presented. The motion was seconded by Councilman Stewart and passed by a unanimous vote of 3-0.
Ditch clearing: The City is still seeking someone with the proper equipment to clear ditches in town.
City Hall Repairs: Exterior repairs have been completed. Councilwoman Davis has received inquiries regarding renting the building for a wedding in October. The issue was tabled for further discussion and to check the building interior.
Ward Three Council Vacancy: By a 3-0 vote the Council appointed resident Jan Kohl to serve as Ward Three Councilwoman at-large for the seat that expires in April of 2023.
Spring 2023 Election Filing: Ward one Councilman Mickey Stewart and Mayor Barry Moore filed for reelection to their respective positions and will run unopposed on the ballot of the April 4th, 2023 Municipal election. No one filed to be on the ballot for the Ward Three seat.
Water Bill Collector: Marsha Metcalfe has been hired to succeed Brandon Gray as City Water Bill Collector. Brandon Gray has agreed to train his successor and assist in the transition.
New Business
Ward Three Council vacancy: City Clerk Monte Railey swore in Jan Kohl as Ward Three Councilwoman at-large.
The next monthly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 16th, 2023, at 7:00 pm in the MCCA Building.
