Minutes of August 12th, 2019, Council Meeting
The Missouri City, Missouri, City Council held their monthly open meeting at the MCCA Building on Monday, August 12th, 2019, at 7:00 pm. Attending: Mayor Barry Moore, City Clerk Monte Railey, Collector Brandon Gray and Council members Sydney Stewart, Joe Selle, Rockne Gross and Micah Schake.
Mayor Moore called the meeting to order. Minutes of the July 8th, 2019 meeting were read and approved. Treasurer Lindsay Eppley was unable to attend and financial reports were not available and no bills were approved for payment.
Old Business
Water Project: Easement details are still being worked out. Easement on Freeman property will be moved north and alter path to the Moore property.
Sales Tax Proposal: The one percent Sales Tax proposal on the August 6th ballot passed 22-8. The City Clerk will follow up with the City Attorney regarding the next step for implementation.
Law Enforcement terms: Mayor Moore advised the Council that the new agreement is still pending.
Trimming of overhanging trees and brush on City streets has begun.
The unlicensed and apparently abandoned vehicle on Walnut Street was tagged by the Deputy working for the City and has been towed off.
The ditch at Main and Stillhouse has been dug out.
New Business
John Blessing with Waste Management advised the City that they will not exercise the option for a fourth year on the current contract from 2017. As a result, a new agreement must be negotiated for 2020 and beyond. The Mayor requested a bid via e-mail and the Clerk will follow up with a formal letter.
The Clerk reported receiving a package from the Census Bureau containing maps and tracking forms in preparation for the 2020 census.
The gathering was advised that the 2019 Tax Levy Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20th, at the MCCA Building. The Clerk has not yet received the figures to calculate the rate but anticipates getting them form the County Clerk this week.
The next Council meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 12th, 2019, at the MCCA Building.
Councilman Gross made a motion to adjourn that was seconded by Councilwoman Stewart. Meeting adjourned.
